  The main highlights include exploring the Sacred Valley and visiting community projects in the highlands, witnessing the unforgettable views of Machu Picchu, taking the train through the scenic Urubamba Valley to Aguas Calientes, and experiencing traditional life on Lake Titicaca.

• What type of accommodation is provided on this tour?

  Accommodation will be in hotels/guesthouses for all 10 nights of the tour.

• What meals are included in the tour price?

  The tour includes 10 breakfasts and 1 lunch.

• What is the maximum group size for this tour?

  The maximum group size is 16 travelers, with an average group size of 12.

• What is the minimum age to participate in this trip?

  You must be 18 to travel unaccompanied. For minors traveling with a guardian over 21 years old, the minimum age is 12.

• Is travel insurance required for this trip?

  Yes, travel insurance is compulsory. You are required to have coverage for medical expenses including emergency evacuation and repatriation, with a minimum of USD200,000. Personal liability, cancellation, curtailment, and loss of luggage are strongly recommended.

• Are international flights included in the tour price?

  No, international flights are generally not included in the price of your tour. However, all internal flights are included.

• What modes of transportation are used during the trip?

  Transportation on this tour includes plane, train, boat, public bus, 4x4 vehicles, and hiking.

• Will I get my own room if I am a solo traveler?

  Our group trips are designed for shared accommodation, meaning solo travelers are paired in twin or multi-share rooms with someone of the same sex. If you book the "My Own Room" option, you will receive a single room for all night stops.

• What should I know about currency and exchanging money in Peru and Bolivia?

  The currency in Peru is the Nuevo Sol (PEN) and in Bolivia is the boliviano (BOB). Credit and debit cards, especially Visa, are widely accepted for cash advances. It's best to carry a combination of US dollar cash and cards. Traveler's cheques are not recommended. Ensure notes are in good condition and in denominations lower than 100USD.

• How much emergency money should I bring?

  It is recommended to have access to at least an additional USD $200 (or equivalent) as an emergency fund, for use in unforeseen circumstances that may require a change to the planned route.

• Is tipping customary, and what are the recommendations?

  Tipping is customary in Latin America. For service providers like waiters, approximately 10% is suggested. For local guides and drivers, $5-10 USD per day is recommended. For your Chief Experience Officer (CEO), a guideline of $20-25 USD per person, per week, is appreciated if you felt they did an outstanding job.

• What optional activities are available?

  Optional activities include cooking classes and city tours in Lima and Cusco, a Rainbow Mountain hike, visits to the Inka Museum, exploring Ollantaytambo storehouse ruins, hot springs in Aguas Calientes, and the Sillustani burial site in Puno, among others.

• Are there any health considerations, especially regarding altitude?

  It is your responsibility to consult with your travel doctor for up-to-date medical travel information and required inoculations. This adventure travels to high altitudes (over 8,000 feet/2,440 meters). Everyone reacts differently to altitude, and altitude sickness can occur regardless of fitness or age. Consult your physician on how to best prepare.

• Who will be leading the group during the tour?

  All group trips are accompanied by a Chief Experience Officer (CEO) who provides information, offers suggestions, and introduces you to local culture. Local guides are also utilized for specific sites to offer more specialized knowledge.

• What are the regulations for visiting Machu Picchu?

  Machu Picchu regulations require all visitors to follow pre-determined circuits to prevent overcrowding. Entrance tickets are circuit-specific and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Travelers completing the Inca Trail or 1-Day Inca Trail will be assigned Circuit 3 for their guided visit, with access to the panoramic viewpoint.

  Planeterra International Foundation is a non-profit organization that helps local communities earn an income from tourism by developing and supporting small community-owned businesses. They work to empower indigenous people, women, and youth, and protect the environment, integrating these projects into tour itineraries globally.

• What are the rules regarding illegal drugs and the sex trade on this trip?

  Illegal drugs are strictly not tolerated, as they contravene local laws and put the group at risk. The exploitation of people in the sex trade is also completely contrary to our travel philosophy. Our CEOs have the right to expel any group member involved in such activities.

• Are laundry facilities available during the trip?

  Laundry facilities are offered by some of our hotels for a charge. We suggest bringing non-polluting/biodegradable soap for times when you may need to do your own laundry.
